New display at Selby Gardens shows a different side of this Beatle

SARASOTA — Ever wanted to step into the life of one of the Beatles? At Marie Selby Botanical Gardens through June 29, you can wander through the mind of George Harrison — the gardener and the guitarist.The botanical gardens in downtown Sarasota are hosting “George Harrison: A Gardener’s Life,” an exhibit that highlights one of Harrison’s greatest passions. It’s an immersive walk through Harrison’s life post-Beatles, drawing inspiration from the singer’s English home, Friar Park, a mind-boggling gorgeous estate in Henley-on-Thames, England.Harrison bought the property in 1970 at age 27 and devoted much of his post-Beatles life revitalizing it. Harrison worked with his wife, Olivia, to revamp the neglected property, which housed a Victorian mansion and 32 acres of verdant grounds.
