Paul McCartney ‘to headline Glastonbury 2022 alongside Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar’
The legendary musician, 79, apparently will take to the Pyramid Stage in June after last year’s event was cancelled.
Sir Paul, renowned worldwide as one of the four Beatles, will play his set just a week after his 80th birthday, making Glastonbury history in the process.
The star, dubbed Macca by fans, will reportedly play on the Saturday night following sets from Noel Gallagher and Haim, according to The Sun.
Billie Eilish is slated to be playing on the Friday with Kendrick Lamar closing the festival on the Sunday.
A source told the paper: “Paul’s set will be an absolutely must-see. He is really excited for it and is determined to put on a hell of a show packed with all of the hits.
“There was some discussion about whether he should go ahead with shows this year because of the situation with Covid, but he decided he really wants to perform.”
The Beatles songwriter, known for hits such as Let It Be and Hey Jude, had previously headlined the Somerset festival in 2004 when Oasis and Muse also topped the bill.
The 2022 line-up has not yet been officially confirmed but it is expected to hit headlines next week.
