Steve Lukather Reveals What George Harrison Was Really Like When They Met, Recalls Lending Him Valuable Gibson | Ultimate Guitar

Toto guitarist and legendary session musicianSteve Lukather remembered meeting his hero George Harrisonin the early 1990s.When we look back, both Lukather and Harrison are highly regarded by rock fans. But if we were to go back to 1992, which was well over 30 years ago now (yes, it’s been that long), Lukather was the “young guy,” and Harrison was his idol. While it’s difficult to make a comparison to the guitar scene that we have today, we could, perhaps, say that it’s like Matteo Mancuso meeting Angus Young.While recently chatting with Guitar World, Steve touched upon meeting George Harrison while commemorating Toto drummer Jeff Porfcaro. He said:”I had met George a few days before we were doing a tribute to Jeff Porcaro after he tragically passed. I said, ‘Hey, man, I just wanted to say hi and thank you for my career.’ He turned out to be the nicest, funniest guy I’d ever hung out with.”
