New York — George Harrison’s landmark album, All Things Must Pass, celebrates its late 50th anniversary. The ex-Beatles son believes that the new remix collection could be the perfect soundtrack after a pandemic.

“I think the messages on this record are now available now than they were when they were first released,” said Dani Harrison. “The message has become clearer and now acoustically clearer. This is really important music.”

The original collection was bold at the time. It was the first triple studio album in rock history and used virtually a lot of vinyl. The Anniversary Edition, released this week, includes eight LPs (or five CDs) and Blu-ray audio discs, and looks quaint with remix albums, demos, outtakes, and jams.

There are reprinted archive notes, track annotations, photos and souvenirs. The most expensive edition comes in its own wooden box with the famous Garden Gnome figurine that appears on the album cover. But the first is the music that Rolling Stone lists in one of the best 500 albums ever.

“We’re not trying to make it sound modern,” said Grammy-winning triple engineer Paul Hicks. “I’m not trying to put any kind of stamp on it. We pay great respect to the mixes that were there and follow them as much as possible.”
