Funeral services will be held Friday, July 8, for Gerald “Gabe” McCarty, who was the leader and founder of the group the Four Vests that George Harrison played guitar with during his pre-Beatlemania trip to the U.S. in 1963. He died last Sunday at Carbondale Memorial Hospital at age 83, according to The Southern.com. The trip to America was to visit sister Louise Harrison, who was living in Illinois at the time.
