“Who the fuck is going to watch Neil Young?!” someone in my Glastonbury camping group shouted, as they planned how to tackle the inevitably large queue for their beloved Charli XCX. Timidly, I responded with a “me”, which didn’t end up being the “I’m Spartacus” moment I hoped for. As it turned out, it was just me.I wasn’t aware that being a Neil Young fan, even in 2026, was such an outsider’s position to take, but here I was trying in vain to explain to a group of people minutes away from watching Charli XCX, why Young would be such a pull. It was quite the pitch, one that probably fell on deaf ears but ultimately confirmed my excitement for what was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime show for me.
