James McCartney
Following 2013′s critically received debut album Me, James McCartney’s journey now continues. Currently writing a set of new demos, James will soon head into the studio with long term collaborator, Steve Albini whose previous credits include, Nirvana, The Pixies and PJ Harvey, to lay down some tracks. Having spent much of 2013 on the road touring the US, Europe and the UK and playing to bigger crowds, who have discovered his songs and music organically, the rest of 2014 is to be largely spent developing a new set of songs, which will see the light of day in 2015.
“The set of songs we’re currently working on definitely have a harder edge, but the thread of commonality that runs through them, is a great lyric or a great melody.” Melding influences ranging from current indie rockette’s Warpaint with shades of Nirvana, James’ new material promises one thing; not to conform. “That’s the main thing for me as an artist, not to compromise lyrically, musically or artistically and with the new songs such as Unicorn, Earthshine and Breakdown, I feel we are achieving that”.
Before the end of 2014, James will be making a long overdue return to South America, visiting Argentina for a festival appearance at Personal Fest in Buenos Aires in November. ” I travelled to Argentina as a child with my parents, but haven’t had the opportunity to go since, so I’m looking forward to going back there again”.
