Music legend Paul McCartney, whose alias inspired the name of a legendary rock band, has revealed the backstory of the strain with his former bandmate, John Lennon, after The Beatles went their separate ways in 1970. They engaged in a public falling out that lasted years and spilled into their music, including McCartney’s song “Too Many People.”Reflecting on that time, Paul shared how Lennon’s songs felt like personal attacks. “At the time, John [Lennon] was firing missiles at me with his songs, and one or two of them were quite cruel. I don’t know what he hoped to gain other than punch me in the face; the whole thing really annoyed me,” he admitted.
