Wings’ “Jet” and “Band on the Run” altered Paul McCartney’s career trajectory, according to him. They inspired him to write new songs in the style of The Beatles. During an interview with Harry Styles of One Direction, Paul discussed the change.
Harry Styles was given insight into Paul McCartney’s early post-Beatles career.
Styles and Paul spoke with each other for a 2017 Another Man article. Styles inquired about how difficult it was for Paul to start making music without the Beatles. Paul admitted that he wasn’t sure what kind of music he was making at first. McCartney, he said, reflected that attitude.
Paul’s demeanor shifted after that. “There was this difficulty — you’re thinking, ‘Well, now what am I going to do, just make Beatles records?’ ‘Or am I going to try something completely different, something that isn’t at all like The Beatles?’ Paul wondered.
