When Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters met Paul McCartney, one of his greatest heroes, he had a night he’ll never forget. Like the next Beatlemaniac, he’d listened to The Beatles on repeat in his room. He went over all of their songs with his friends and practiced them.
Nothing, however, could have prepared him for his first encounter with a Beatles member. When Grohl ran into Paul at the George Harrison tribute concert, Concert for George, he was speechless. It was as if I had been witness to a full-fledged supernatural occurrence.
Dave Grohl was invited to a concert for George Harrison by Dhani Harrison, George Harrison’s son.
Chris Shifflett, the guitarist for the Foo Fighters, brought a man to meet Grohl after the band’s show in London in 2002. He had no idea the man was George Harrison’s son, Dhani. When Dhani gave Grohl a copy of George’s posthumous album, Brainwashed, Grohl realized what he was missing.
