The lost Paul McCartney song Marianne Faithfull rejected
In 1968, or even 2008 for that matter, the idea of an artist turning down a song written by Paul McCartney seems utterly ludicrous. After all, he’s a Beatle responsible for writing an almost unmatched collection of timeless classics.For many years, the only songwriter who could compete with the number of hits churned out by McCartney was his partner in crime, John Lennon. Almost everything they created troubled the charts, and stars were created purely by their association with the Fab Four. Nobody cared that the song in question was deemed surplus to requirements for The Beatles; if Lennon or McCartney penned it, that was all that mattered.
