Hello and welcome to the latest edition of
‘What’s That You’re Doing?’
Time to dig out your scarf, comfy old sweater and grab a hot cup of ‘English Tea’ – hello autumn! Let’s take a look at what Paul’s been up to over the last month.
Get excited, Rupert The Bear fans – today we are thrilled to announce two special re-releases from Paul! To mark Rupert’s 100th birthday next month, Paul’s iconic 1984 Rupert-inspired song We All Stand Together and animated film Rupert and the Frog Song have been remastered.
WE ALL STAND TOGETHER
PAUL McCARTNEY AND THE FROG CHORUS
We All Stand Together will be available on limited edition picture disc vinyl from November 6th, and the vinyl is specially shaped, exactly the same as the 1984 release. The 2020 version also comes with a poster –pre-order yours here!
RUPERT AND THE FROG SONG
Rupert and The Frog Song, the short animated film that Paul created with animator Geoff Dunbar, has been fully restored in 4k as well as getting a new audio mix. This new version, which has been painstakingly restored frame-by-frame, will be made available on YouTube next month.
2020 marks another special anniversary – it’s been 50 years since Paul’s debut solo album McCartney was released in 1970! A limited edition Record Store Day release arrived in September, which you can check out here.
Did you spot yourself in the ‘Great Day’ fan video? Thousands of you sent in clips of you and your loved ones dancing, singing, and having a great day at home listening to the Flaming Pie Archive Collection track. Watch the full video now on YouTube!
Paul also sent his wishes to everyone celebrating Jewish New Year around the world this September, and answered a fan’s question about his approach to solo songwriting for this month’s ‘You Gave Me The Answer’ website Q&A. Take a look at what he said here.
Fancy treating yourself to an early Christmas present? Yes, it’s far too early but we won’t judge… We’ve added new merch lines to Paul’s online store, including new lines for McCartney, Flaming Pie, Hey Grandude! (which reminds us, the paperback book is out now!) and some festive-themed items as well. Because who wouldn’t want to have a Wonderful Christmastime all year round? Browse the new collections here.
So, what’s coming up next? Paul will appear ona special programme on BBC Radio 2 this October, marking John Lennon’s 80th birthday. Paul will also feature in Teenage Cancer Trust’s ‘Unseen’ streaming concert series, an online fundraising event which supports their emergency appeal. Head to Teenage Cancer Trust’s YouTube channel on October 11th to watch Paul’s 2012 gig at the Royal Albert Hall.
As we head into colder autumn months, Paul’s ‘Sticking Out Of My Back Pocket’ playlist has been updated on Spotify! Following on from the McCartney anniversary celebrations, this month’s playlist highlights some of our favourite solo tracks where Paul plays every instrument. Listen here!
All the best!
