The Beatles

Does that ring a bell? Of course, it does. The name holds a huge significance in the life of every music fan. This name stands for a band, which had become synonymous with Pop Music in the ’70s and is a reason behind the evolution of music and development of counterculture that the art industry saw in the ’60s and ’70s.

The Beatles are regarded as one of the most influential bands of all time, and all the four band artists as one of the greatest musicians being bestowed to the world of music.

Now, the surviving members of the band, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have come together to pay a tribute to their late bandmate, John Lennon, who was murdered in 1980 at the age of 40. This astounding collaboration occurred for John Lennon’s ‘Grow Old With Me’ cover.

It was one of the final songs of John Lennon before his untimely unfortunate demise. The song drafted by him during the recording session of the final album, Double Fantasy, was posthumously released on the 1984 record Milk and Honey.

Talking about the collaboration, Starr reveals that the idea for this collaboration struck him after he ran into Jack Douglas, who was the producer of Lennon and Ono’s ‘Double Fantasy’ album. He recalls that Jack asked him if he ever heard The Bermuda Tapes, John’s demos from that time, which he actually hadn’t. Expressing his fondness for the song, he says that he just loved the song and he has sung it the best that he could. Remembering his former friend and bandmate, Starr confesses that he wells up whenever he thinks about John deeply.

Talking about the development of the song, he explains that he wanted Paul to play on it and he agreed for it. He came on board, and played bass and sang a little with him in this song. Reminiscing band’s days together, Ringo added that John is in the song in a way. He and Paul are on it. And the strings that Jack arranged for the song has one line from George Harrison’s ‘Here Comes The Sun,’ if listened intently. He clarified that the collaboration between him and Paul is no publicity stunt as that’s what he had wanted. “So in a way, it’s the four of us,” he concluded evoking nostalgia for Beatles’ fans.
