Paul McCartney to receive peace advocacy award from New York’s Yeshiva University | KTIC Radio
Paul McCartney will both take part in and receive a special honor during the commencement ceremony for Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, scheduled for May 28 at Lincoln Center.
The ex-Beatles star will be presented with the International Advocate for Peace Award by students of the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution. The students are giving McCartney the honor because of his more than 50 years of creating songs that “celebrate love and understanding, empathy and connection — the foundations of peace that are the heart of the human struggle.”
The International Advocate for Peace Award is bestowed annually to a person or group that makes a noteworthy contribution to promoting peace.
Previous recipients of the honor include President Bill Clinton, President Jimmy Carter, folk group Pete, Paul and Mary, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and The Vagina Monologues playwright Eve Ensler.
Sir Paul will receive the award just a few days after he kicks off the 2019 North American leg of his Freshen Up Tour. The trek gets underway May 23 in New Orleans and is plotted out through a July 13 show in Los Angeles.
