This week in America, Kanye West is back at No. 1 with his latest album Ye, which stormed onto the Billboard 200 with over 200,000 equivalent copies shifted. The short set (it’s just seven songs long) is the rapper’s eighth leader on the all-genre chart, which makes him one of the most successful artists ever when it comes to the number of No. 1 albums, though he hasn’t quite matched the all-time record for the most leaders.

While West still has a long way to go before he catches up to the Beatles, who established the record for the greatest number of chart-toppers and have held onto it for decades with their 19 leaders, the hip-hop star has matched the Fab Four and another beloved rapper with his new title when it comes to another important record.

With eight consecutive No. 1 studio album debuts on the Billboard 200, West has now matched the all-time record for the most such chart champions in a row. According to Billboard, both the Beatles and Eminem have also managed to immediately reach the throne with eight new releases in a row, which is an undeniably incredible run and one that shows how long these artists have been (or were) at the top of their game.

While the three musical acts are now tied when it comes to this unique piece of history, only two are on their way to raising the bar once again. Both Eminem and Kanye West are still at the height of their careers, while the Beatles haven’t been a solid unit for decades. The most recent releases from both hip-hop artists made it to No. 1 (Eminem’s Revival started at the peak of the Billboard 200 back in late 2017), and there’s no sign they’ll see their winning streaks cease any time soon.

West already has a new album out now, and while it has a shot of coming close to debuting at No. 1, it doesn’t look like it will claim the crown, and while that seems like an end to this history-making run, all is not lost for the rapper. The new release is credited to the group Kids See Ghosts (which is also the name of the record), as it is a duo comprised of West and fellow hip-hop musician Kid Cudi and not a solo outing under the more famous moniker.
