Mersey Beatles celebrate day Fab Four came to Blackburn with show at King George’s Hall | Lancashire Telegraph
KING George’s Hall, Blackburn, will host date by leading Beatles tribute band The Mersey Beatles.Next year the band will set out on their Get Back tour playing venues which the Fab Four originally played in their heyday.Today fewer than 80 of more than 200 British venues The Beatles played between 1957 and 1966 remain. They made their only visit to Blackburn in June 1963. The King George’s Hall show was was the final date of the group’s UK tour with Roy Orbison.During the tour The Beatles’ repertoire consisted of seven songs: Some Other Guy, Do You Want To Know A Secret, Love Me Do, From Me To You, Please Please Me, I Saw Her Standing There and Twist And Shout.As part of their own two-hour show, The Mersey Beatles will play those same songs.Formed in 1999 in Liverpool by four school friends, The Mersey Beatles have toured the world many times over.The band is Mark Bloor (John), Steven Howard (Paul), Craig McGown (George) and Brian Ambrose (Ringo). The band recapture both the look and, more importantly, the sound of arguably the most famous band in the world.Steven said: “This tour is going to be amazing! We are, of course, all Beatles fans and, as Liverpool lads we’ve been obsessed with the band since we were in school. It’s going to be great to follow in the Fab Four’s footsteps and truly recreate those special shows at these wonderful and historic venues.”Mark added: “We pride ourselves on bringing a true Beatles experience, covering all the eras from the days of The Cavern Club, through Beatlemania to Sgt Pepper and the band’s final gig on the rooftop of the Apple offices.
