A host of music’s biggest stars have paid tribute to Gregg Allman after his tragic passing.Ringo Starr, Keith Urban and Peter Frampton are among those who’ve taken to Twitter to post heartfelt messages for Gregg.The singer-songwriter, who founded The Allman Brothers Band with his late brother, Duane, died on Saturday.Rocker Peter Frampton spoke of his admiration for Gregg.He said: “So sad to hear Gregg Allman passed away I admire him so much & had the honour of jamming wth him recently. A gentle soul with so much soul.”
The Allman Brothers Band posted from their official account, saying: “It is with deep sadness we announce that Gregg Allman, a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band, passed away peacefully at his home”
Country music star Keith Urban added: “My heart breaks today at the passing of soul brutha Gregg Allman. Blessings and peace to all the Allman family. – KU”
Beatles member Ringo Starr also paid tribute.
He wrote: “Rest in peace Greg Allman peace and love to all the family”
Singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge said: “My southern-rock heart is breaking….# GreggAllman”
Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Charlie Daniels paid tribute too.
He said: “Just got the word Greg Allman has passed away Rest in peace brother You were the best Dixie had You will be missed”
Governor of South Carolina Henry McMaster also had something to say about Gregg.
He posted: “”Not gonna let ’em catch the midnight rider.” RIP Gregg Allman. Your music inspired generations of Southern rockers; you will be missed.”
