She is a vegetarian and campaigner for animal rights. So fashion designer Stella McCartney may be bemused to find that her latest creation has upset animal welfare groups. They have criticised her £1,245 pet carrier – a faux-leather bag made to transport dogs or cats. They claim bags such as the ‘Falabella’ product from Sir Paul McCartney’s 45-year-old daughter can do lasting damage to the animal. The bag, which according to her website features a ‘diamond cut gold chain trim and Stella McCartney logo disc’, comes as demand for so-called ‘handbag dogs’ continues to rise.
