There’s an iconic interior balcony of EMI’s London headquarters that served as one of the most important photoshoot locations in music history. It was the one where four young lads, better known as The Beatles, would hang their heads from to take the photo for their 1963 debut album Please Please Me. Ever since that photo was taken, it became the symbol of rock and roll in the ‘60s, with The Beatles looking down on the rest of the world as they went on to conquer it, from pop heroes to wild experimentalists. But by the end of the ‘70s, when the punk movement was in full force, the tide would quickly turn, and despite their wild innovation, the band would become a symbol of the past.
