Mike McCartney has led tributes to Merseybeat pioneer Len Garry, who has died aged 84. Garry, a member of The Quarrymen – the band that would later evolve into The Beatles – had recently been diagnosed with pneumonia after being admitted to Royal Liverpool University Hospital with a suspected chest infection.Article continues below.
