Ringo Starr has credited his friends for his drumming skills, saying he didn’t become a top drummer through practice but by jamming with friends, before joining the iconic Beatles, who some fans were surprised to learn initially had a different name. The legendary Beatle – who will be played by Irish actor Barry Keoghan in the upcoming Beatles biopic – wasn’t one for solo practice sessions at home, finding them “boring” and he never bothered with lessons. At 84, Ringo revealed that his real improvement on the drums came from simply playing live gigs.
