As ‘Now and Then’ comes to an end Sir Paul McCartney leans over his piano and looks out at the audience. In front of him, he has 23,000 people in the palm of his hand.A sell-out crowd at Manchester’s Co-op Live is spellbound by Sir Paul, 82, halfway through a musical masterclass. The emotion of ‘Now and Then’ – the ‘final’ Beatles song which began with a John Lennon demo in 1977 and was completed by Sir Paul and Ringo Starr last year – is palpable.
