Previously unseen footage of the Beatles in make-up ahead of a TV appearance in England in 1965 has surfaced in Australia.In the video Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison can be seen prepping and preening themselves before going on air for a special show ‘The Music of Lennon and McCartney’ on Granada TV.The Super 8mm film was shot by dancer and make-up artist Dawn Swane, who’s daughter, production designer Melinda Doring donated the 49-second film to the ‘National Film and Sound Archive of Australia’, as part of a collection that also included a clip of Michael Caine on the set of the 1964 TV drama ‘The Other Man.’Dawn is quoted by the ‘National Film and Sound Archive of Australia’ as saying: “I was in the make-up room. And so we were having some champagne … And anyway, I don’t know if it was John or if it was Ringo but they took the camera off me and said, ‘This is no way to use a camera’, and they sort of jiggled it upside down and inside out a bit, and everybody was just mucking around. But that was great. I mean they were a nice group of people. They really were.”
