On March 15, 60 years ago The Beatles first performed in Bristol. Their first concert in Colston Hall (now Bristol Beacon) saw them as a supporting act to other musicians most people would no longer have heard of.But by the time they returned in November 1963, they were on the front page of the Bristol Evening Post and had to be locked away from screaming fans.The Beatles performed in Bristol on three occasions and Bath once. The first show in Bristol took place on Friday March 15 1963 as part of the Tommy Roe & Chris Montez tour. John Lennon was able to re-join the group on stage for both sets following the three previous concerts, which he missed due to illness.Their set list on this tour was Love Me Do, Misery, A Taste Of Honey, Do You Want To Know A Secret, Please Please Me and I Saw Her Standing There. The Beatles returned to Colston Hall for a second time on Friday November 15, 1963, the 12th date of their 1963 autumn tour.
