John Lennon took some time to warm up to George Harrison, but once he did, the two bandmates grew close. Lennon wanted to meet Harrison’s aunt, Mimi Smith, but he was aware that Smith didn’t usually get along with his friends. She once threw a fit in front of John Lennon’s girlfriend Cynthia and refused to let Paul McCartney into her home. Lennon worked hard to convince Smith that she would like Harrison as a result. But in the end, his efforts were in vain.
Many of the people in the musician’s life were unpopular with his aunt.
