It all ended in Room 1601 at The Polynesian Village Hotel in Disney World, Florida.

After The Cavern, Shea Stadium, Abbey Road and the Savile Row rooftop, The Beatles officially broke up in that hotel room on 29 December 1974.

Looking out over the Seven Seas Lagoon while on holiday, John Lennon signed the piece of paper that legally dissolved the group. Somehow, though, The Beatles haven’t stopped. On 8 October, it will be 60 years since their first single – a wheezy, rough-edged shanty called “Love Me Do” – was released in Britain. Yet they are still happening.
