Brian Epstein, The Beatles’ manager, seemed to George Harrison to have a spiritual bent. After LSD opened the Beatle’s mind, he had recently become “God-conscious,” and Ravi Shankar’s Indian music and Eastern religion helped to fill the void. Epstein might have been willing to go spiritual with his band in order to become more intimate with them.
Epstein, however, was unable to experience his spiritual awakening. His untimely passing occurred in 1967 while his band was on retreat in Wales with their new guru, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
The Beatles’ manager was always consulted before they took any action.
