Paul McCartney turns 80 years old on Saturday. Sir Paul, who may soon become Lord Paul, was born on June 18, 1942, and for some 60 years he’s been a global superstar.
Macca’s still going strong too. His “Paul McCartney Got Back” tour winds up today in East Rutherford, N.J., and when the annual Glastonbury Festival kicks off next Wednesday in Somerset, England, he’ll be the headliner at the five-day music event.
But back to Paul’s birthday. How to celebrate? I think I’ll break out my copies of “Revolver” and “The White Album,” both of which feature some prime McCartney contributions, including “Eleanor Rigby” and “Helter Skelter,” respectively. Admission: I own not even one Wings album.
