Paul McCartney adds Mother’s Day show in Oakland to his tour ‘due to overwhelming demand’ | Datebook
Paul McCartney has added a second night at Oakland Arena to his “Got Back” tour, “due to overwhelming demand,” according to the show’s promoter Another Planet Entertainment.
The former Beatle will now play at the East Bay venue on May 6 and May 8, which happens to be Mother’s Day. The occasion also marks his first live performance in Oakland in 20 years.
The “Got Back” tour, which takes its name from Peter Jackson’s recent “The Beatles: Get Back” documentary, kicks off on April 28 with McCartney’s first-ever show in Spokane, Wash.
McCartney last played in the Bay Area during his “Freshen Up” tour at SAP Center in San Jose, in July 2019.
“I said at the end of the last tour that I’d see you next time. I said I was going to get back to you. Well, I got back,” McCartney said in an announcement for the tour.
The 79-year-old rock icon’s band for this tour features keyboardist Paul “Wix” Wickens, bassist Brian Ray, guitarist Rusty Anderson and drummer Abe Laboriel Jr.
