Paul McCartney brings out Ringo Starr for tour-closing Beatles reunion
Let’s just say that Paul McCartney knows how to please a crowd.
Fans who turned out Saturday for the final night of his North American tour were treated to a Beatles reunion, when Ringo Starr joined McCartney onstage for his encore at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Ringo, 79, manned the drums for a surprise set that skewed to the latter part of the Fab Four’s catalog: they played the reprise to “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and “Helter Skelter.”
Later in the show, McCartney, 77, was joined by Starr’s brother-in-law Joe Walsh (his wife, Marjorie, is the sister of Ringo’s wife, Barbara Bach) for the dueling guitars on “The End,” wrapping up the famous “Abbey Road” medley.
