St. Peter’s is an Anglican Parish Church, listed in the National Heritage List of England as a Grade II listed building. It is one of the biggest Parish Churches Liverpool. It’s bell tower stands at the highest point in the City.
It is also famed for its Beatles connections, as it was there, at a Church Fete, that the historic first meeting of John Lennon and Paul McCartney took place in on 6 July 1957 when The Quarrymen (the forerunner of The Beatles) performed. It is where the gravestone of Eleanor Rigby rests, she who was immortalised in song in the famous composition written and performed by Paul McCartney.
The 2020 Pandemic saw them convert to virtual services, remining a lively and active Parish, all ages welcome, and lots of social activities in addition to regular services.
