The building dates back in part to the 18th century. The old courthouse became the headquarters of the Metropolitan Borough of Marylebone in 1900.

Throughout the years, it has undergone many changes, most of which were Municipal and City oriented, relating to the running of the borough, until finally, it is now mostly used for the solemnization of marriages.

Cilla Black and Bobby Wilis were married there in January 1969. Paul and Linda tied the knot in March 1969. Fellow Beatle, Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach were married in April 1981.

Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas said their “I do’s” in May 1996. Liam Gallagher and Patsy Kensit also, in April 1997

It has been a long time favourite location for weddings of people of many backgrounds, including Liam Gallagher and Nicole Appleton who were wed in February 2008. Also Sean Bean and Georgina Sutcliffe, also in February 2008,

And more recently, Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevel in October 2011.

Indeed, a popular spot for celebrity Nuptials. And no doubt a regular spot on the dial for many Paparazzi.
