This school lays claim to fame of several people who went on to be stars in the entertainment world. It was established in 1908.

John Lennon attended from 1945 to 1951, George Harrison between 1948 and 1950, and Jimmy Tarbuck, the famous Liverpool comedian also attended Dovedale.

George was three years younger than John, so they were not there at the same time, Now, wouldn’t that have started something? There is nothing on record that tells if they ever knew one another at that stage of their lives.

Pete Sissons was another scholar, and he turned out to be one of John’s few life long friends who went on to be a bigwig at the BBC in London.

The School has undergone some financial difficulties over the years, and in 2001, Yoko donated $250,000  to help with repairs of the ageing property.
