Tom Petty dead at 66: Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Mick Jagger lead tributes to rock legend after he passed away last night following a cardiac arrest
CELEBS including Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Mick Jagger have paid tribute to rocker Tom Petty who died last night, aged 66.
They joined Tom Petty’s daughter, Kimberly Violette Petty, taking to social media to share their sorrow over the rocker’s tragic passing.
The heartbroken American visited Tom in hospital wearing the tour jacket he had made for her to match his.
Shortly after his death she took to Instagram to post an image of the Free Fallin’ singer and his Heartbreakers band logo with the simple caption RIP, and an Emoji love heart.
Meanwhile musicians including McCartney and Jagger, John Mayer, Kid Rock and Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx shared their heartache on Twitter following the shock news.
Beatles legend Paul wrote: “Sending love to Tom Petty and his family at this difficult time.”
Rolling Stones frontman Mick added: “So sad about Tom Petty, he made some great music. Thoughts are with his family.”
Bluesman Mayer wrote: “I loved Tom Petty and I covered his songs because I wanted know what it felt like to fly.
