Pleasanton show puts new twist on Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’s’
A new take on The Beatles’ masterpiece “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” a homecoming show by Oakland singer Kehlani and a benefit show with plenty silliness tops our list of stuff to do in the Bay Area June 15-18 (and beyond).1 San Francisco String Trio: This crazy-talented threesome — violinist Mads Tolling, guitarist Mimi Fox and bassist/singer Jeff Denson — would probably be worth catching if they were performing limericks about three-legged cats. But their current project is a 50th-anniversary tribute to the Beatles’ landmark album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” A full album is due later this year, but you can hear them deliver their take on “Pepper’s” tracks at Pleasanton’s Firehouse Arts Center on June 17.Details: 8 p.m.; $25-$38; 925-931-4848, www.firehousearts.org.
