Filming for The Beatles movies underway as iconic moment recreated – Liverpool Echo
Images from the production of the ambitious cinematic event series on The Beatles have been released as filming has officially got underway. Sir Sam Mendes is directing four films based on the lives of the Liverpool band that transformed the world.The series of films are slated to be released in 2028 and will star Paul Mescal as Sir Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Sir Ringo Starr, Harris Dickinson as the late John Lennon and Joseph Quinn as the late George Harrison. First look pictures of the Hollywood stars in character as the Fab Four were released last week and exclusively revealed on postcards distributed by the school founded by Sir Paul, Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.More images from the production of the movie have now been released as Beatlemania took over London last weekend. The capital city was transformed into 1964 New York as scenes were recreated from the legendary moment The Beatles landed in America ahead of performing on The Ed Sullivan Show.All the actors are pictured in character for the scenes which brought The Plaza Hotel on Fifth Avenue roaring back to life. The Hollywood stars all don the iconic mop tops that characterise this period when Beatlemania was well and truly underway.Screaming fans, police barricades and period details are spotted in the new images that have been released today.
