Out of the three Beatles guitarists, John Lennon was by far the most reluctant to try his hand at the bass. While he could certainly hold his own with six strings, and he was a proficient multi-instrumentalist, he gravitated to melody more so than rhythm, finding his groove behind a guitar or slumped at the piano. The brooding dexterity of playing bass within the ever-innovative bass wasn’t really his forte.
