John Lennon’s life had become increasingly hectic by 1969. Apart from being a part of The Beatles, Lennon was now in a high-profile relationship with artist Yoko Ono, making strange avant-garde albums, and advocating heavily for peace. The media followed Lennon everywhere he went, and no place was safe from the onslaught of interest. No place, except, for the studio.Even as he was beginning to envision life outside the Fab Four, Lennon was still dedicated to the band at the end of the decade. To help channel all of his frustrations into art, Lennon composed a travelogue song entitled ‘The Ballad of John and Yoko’, a nearly-factual account of the pair’s wedding, honeymoon, and return to England just after the Get Back sessions had ended.
