George Harrison tribute held at Hollywood Walk of Fame Star | Examiner.com
George Harrison, the “quiet Beatle,” was remembered at his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 2:00pm. It’s hard to believe that it’s been fourteen years since George passed away in Los Angeles on this day in 2001 after a long bout with throat cancer. Harrison was born on February 25, 1943 in Liverpool, England. The event was sponsored by the Alliance for Survival peace group. The Los Angeles branch of this organization is headed by peace activist Jerry Rubin, who has organized the annual Harrison and John Lennon birthday and memorial events for many years. Pat Tyson sent the Seattle Rock Music Examiner photos from the event as well her wonderful description of the gathering.
