THE BEATLES WHITE ALBUM:
AN INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
NOVEMBER 8-11
MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY

KEN WOMACK – A guest author at our FEST in Chicago this past weekend, is a Dean at Monmouth University in New Jersey and has spearheaded this very big endeavor coming in November and would like your input. We are honored to be a part of this event and wanted to give him this platform to advance the further studies of the importance of The Beatles in our culture. One more thing, we congratulate Ken on his excellent new book Sound Pictures, Volume 2 of his Biography of George Martin.

The Beatles’ White Album: An International Symposium

You are cordially invited to submit abstracts and/or panel suggestions for an international scholarly conference devoted to the life, work, and influence of the Beatles, particularly in relation to their legendary album The Beatles (1968), popularized as The White Album. The conference will be held from November 8 through 11, 2018, at Monmouth University. The festivities will include various live acts, as well as keynote addresses by rock critics and figures from the music industry. Celebrated Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn will serve as our keynote speaker, along with such luminaries as Geoff Emerick, Chris Thomas, Walter Everett, Bruce Spizer, and Tim Riley, among others.

To submit an abstract, please go to https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/BWAIS2018 and click on the abstract link. Abstracts should be 150-250 words in length. Full-panel submissions are also encouraged.

Papers will be considered for, but certainly not limited to, the Beatles and The White Album. Subjects may also include 1960s history, politics, culture, fashion, literature, and other bands associated with 1960s music. Other allied topics and perspectives are also welcome. The deadline for abstract submission is August 20.

Monmouth University is a member of the GRAMMY Museum’s affiliate program. For more information, contact Ken Womack, Dean of the Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences, at kwomack@monmouth.edu
In the coming days, we will be reviewing the Chicago FEST and all the fabulous events that happened this past weekend.
