McCartney Times

Since the announcement of his new studio album Egypt Station, Paul McCartney is seemingly everywhere.  (Not that we mind, of course.)

Sir Paul recently gave an interview with the BBC where he touched on a number of topics, most notably touring in support of his new album and how many of his contemporaries have announced their retirement from the road.

“We’re just planning it now.  And we definitely know we’re out in September and beyond, “ said Macca about his upcoming tour.  He also let slip that he’ll be performing on Austin City Limits in October and that before heading out on tour, some small, intimate gigs are in the works.

“We might just do a couple of little gigs, just because they’re fun…And it not only takes you back to where you started, but there’s the intimacy in the audience, and you can have a lot of fun…If there’s only a couple hundred, and we’re all having a party, you just think, ‘We can throw in ‘Matchbox,’ or we’ll throw in an odd number that we’d only do at sound checks or something. So they’re good fun for that reason.”

As for retiring, that’s certainly not on McCartney’s radar.

“And I was talking to – name-dropping, clunk – Willie Nelson, and I was talking about this whole retiring thing, because he’s older than I am, even. And he says, ‘Retire from what?’ And I think that just says it. Retire from what?”

If only we all had that same passion for what we do after being at it for over five decades!
