Sir Paul McCartney created more buzz around the increasingly likely possibility of an imminent album release when the Beatles legend played a brand new song at his recent surprise pub show in Liverpool.

The unfortunately terribly low quality footage of McCartney and co. playing a surprise gig at the small Philharmonic Pub in Liverpool thankfully had substantially better audio of a brand new, never-before-played track – and it’s a banger. The punchy and uplifting rocker ‘Come Home To You’ may be a taster of the new album that is rumoured to be released as soon as this coming Friday June 15. McCartney had previously hinted that he was “putting the finishing touches” on his latest studio album back in January during a Q&A on his official website.

Though no official word has been put out on a concrete release date, nor any album title or track listing, McCartney has recently been posting uncaptioned photos of recording studio time across his social media platforms, and was also seen taping an episode of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, which was confirmed to be airing at some point next week. This new album would be the first in five years since his most recent 2013 release, New, and would mark his staggering 17th LP since he ventured out on his own successful solo career.
