CHICO, Calif. — A popular mural in downtown Chico has been removed. The silhouette of the Fab Four walking across Abbey Road from their famous album cover was painted over with gray paint as part of renovation for Bill’s Town Lounge which will open soon. The mural had been mainstay of Main Second street for more than 20 years, having been painted by Gregg Payne. However, an iron gate with the same Beatles silhouette was put in by the owner of Formal education next door. Will Brady, the owner of Bill’s Town Lounge, said he will replace the Beatles mural with one that highlights the importance of the adoption of animals in Butte County. For fans of the Fab Four a new Beatles mural is being planned at another location in downtown Chico.
