It is my opinion that a Ouija Board should never be used outdoors. Controlling the spirits and entities on the Ouija Board is a big task and shouldn't be disturbed by outside influences. You should be in command of the proceedings and not attract the spirits of the earth, wind, fire and water which are very powerful entities and are easily attracted by the energies that you are trying to channel through the board. Consequences could be grave. You should always use a ouija board indoors, unless of course you want to perform uncontrolable magical rituals with it.

For best results with a Ouija board you should be in your most favorite place in your house. Any room will do as long as it has windows or doors that you can open. During every session you should always make sure that the room has enough fresh air by opening a window or a door just a crack. You should place a little cup or dish with salt near the place where you are going to hold the Ouija Session. This helps warding of evil spirits or unwelcome entities. The room should be lit by candles. Any candle will do as long as it isn't a black one. You can and should take breaks during your session. (It is my experience that during a successful encounter you will have to use the bathroom quite often. Good spirits, angels and other beings of the light have the tendency to try to cleanse your body and rid it of poisonous fluids to ensure a genuine connection in their communication with you.) Don't worry, if the contact was genuine the spirits will still be there after you come back to the board. Make sure that your hands are washed before you touch the planchette. Drink plenty of water while you are in session with the board. Display the artifacts of your faith near the ouija board. (I always keep candles depicting saints and archangels next to the board. I wrap my hands around my favorite candle when I say the introductory prayer. I believe it helps to confirm your faith in the Light and the Lord. It also helps to get rid of evil entities.)

When you start the session make sure that the planchette rests in the "blank space" below the letters and above the numbers. For sessions with The Light you should always sit facing North / South direction, placing the board in an East/West direction. (Once I forgot about this important fact and all I received was demonic jibberish.) The movement of the planchette should be circular. It doesn't matter if it moves clock or counter clockwise. You know you are in "Dark Territory" when the planchette moves in the shape of the mathematical infinity symbol. (An 8 laying on its side).

You should always take notes and transcribe the events that are happening during a session. For one it is a good reference looking back on events of past sessions that at the time didn't make sense to you and are now becoming a little clearer. Important here is that you write down both questions and answers. Also, you should describe the emotions, movements and anything else that happens during a session. The ideal session consists of three people. Two on the board, one taking notes. If you can't find a third person to take notes you can also use a tape recorder or a video recorder from which you can transcribe your results later on.
