Supervisor Payroll Operations
Position Summary
The Supervisor primary role is to develop a strategic focus for the payroll organization in support of business goals. They will establish the payroll department as a business enabler aligning people, process and tools to meet business needs.
Key Functions
- Supervises all payroll processing and related activities, including training and evaluation of staff.
- Supervises ongoing training of Payroll Coordinators.
- Increase efficiencies in accordance with operational and financial objectives.
- Initiates changes in work assignments or processing to improve efficiency.
- Audits work of all employees on an ongoing basis
- Assumes full responsibility for department in the absence of manager and Vice President.
- Performs other duties as directed by Vice President and manager related to administrative responsibilities.
- Researches and resolves client problems.
- Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with clients, agencies and coworkers to promote a quality service image.
- Interfaces with upper management and client representatives on a daily basis
- Maintains current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Facilitates employee understanding of payroll procedures.
- Addresses performance problems with employees in a positive problem-solving manner.
- Leads by example with consistent and timely attendance and quality of work.
- Delegates work assignments on a daily basis if not specifically outlined on employee’s job description, or areas that need attention or customer’s special requests.
- Attends meetings and seminars as requested by upper management.
Education and Experience
- Minimum five years experience in payroll, ideally in area of the entertainment industry, including three as a “lead” or “senior” supervisor or comparable.
- At least 1 year involvement in data entry related activities, though not necessarily hands-on.
- Intermediate level experience with PCs, including Word, Excel, Microsoft Office, data terminals, printers, 10 key
- Requires extensive understanding of the Entertainment Industries various Union and Guild contracts for daily interactions with clients.
